Have you ever tried to search for something on the internet using the Firefox browser, and it fails or takes ages to give you results? Is your computer in good condition? Do you have a stable internet connection?

Well, if the answer is yes, the reason for the delay could be that your browser is slow. The following are simple tips that you can use to speed up the Firefox browser.


1. Clear Browser Data

You need to clear browser data regularly if you want your Firefox browser to work fast and effectively. Use the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + A, or open the Firefox menu and follow the procedure shown below.

Once you have ticked cache, cookies, and sites data on the “clear data dialogue page” the last step is to click the clear option and clean up your Firefox browser. Please note that you remove login status and site preference if you clear cookies and site data.

You also clear all cached content such as scripts and images if you clear cached web. Therefore, you should tick only items you wanna remove from your browser.


2. Disable or Remove Extensions and Plug-ins

Another effective way to increase the speed of the Firefox browser is by closing or removing the unused plug-ins and extensions. The following are simple steps on how to remove extensions.

Click on the extensions option and turn the curser to manage extensions. Find the extension that you wanna remove and click on the three lines button found on the far right for more options.

Alternatively, you may decide to disable the extension instead of removing it completely. You should repeat the same procedure for removing extensions. When you reach the final stage, identify the extension you wanna disable and toggle the “Disable button” to the left, as shown below.

Repeat step 1 above (open the Firefox button menu) and click the “Plugins” option as shown below.

From there, you can choose the plug-ins that you wanna disable and use the “three dots” icon on the left to deactivate them.


3. Turn off the browser default options

You can increase the speed of your Firefox browser by turning off the browser default options. Normally, the Firefox browser will ask you to make it the default browser, as shown below.

What is hardware acceleration? Well, this refers to the process by which an application offloads some computing tasks to certain hardware components in the systems of your computer. That way, the application runs smoothly and faster.

The following are the steps for enabling hardware acceleration on your computer.

Step 1: Right-click on desktop and then to “Display settings.”

6. Improve script run time

You can improve the speed of Firefox by enhancing the script run time. That way, you increase the rate at which your computer executes commands.
