Taskeng.exe is known as Task Scheduler Engine. The Task Scheduler Engine is an important component of Windows. It is designed to enable the operating system to start programs or scripts at a specified time. It is usually located in

C:\Windows\System32\taskeng.exe.

It is responsible for keeping track of tasks that are to run at a certain time. However, some users have reported that the Taskeng.exe dialog box pops up every once in a while. At times you can also see an empty taskeng.exe window or a message that says a certain “Windows can’t find *executable file*”.

Some of the errors may be brought about by corrupt registry keys, some files might have been removed, or malware that has camouflaged itself.
